Quite obviously, I did not write this one. Besides Bottom's ditties this is the only cover in the show, for the sole purpose that it just fits, dangit. Credit to Fabian Andre, Wilbur Schwandt, and Gus Kahn for writing a tune so enduring that audiences young and old were singing along.
And of course, thank you to the lovers (played by Quinton J. Alexander, Willow McGlone, Quanece Thompson, and Twoey Truong) for hopping in on the "ooo"s in the stage production.
lyrics
Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me
Say "nightie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
